Master Photographer Annamaria Palsi-Ikonen

I’m a Master Photographer based in Tampere, Finland, and I’ve spent years honing my craft and building a career that blends creativity, technical skill, and a genuine love for storytelling. My journey started at Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm, where I studied Visual Communication, followed by studies in Motion Picture and Photography in Tornio, Finland, and at the Visual Communication Institute in Tampere. Those years shaped my “think outside the box” mentality and gave me a deep understanding of visual marketing.

I started my career as an intern at the Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle) as a steadicamoperator and cameraoperator across various programs. It was a huge learning experience, especially in terms of motion and action. From there, I transitioned into still photography and have since worked on both domestic and international TV and movie productions, as well as in the marketing field with commercial photography.

Over the years, I’ve also taken on roles as a location manager and worked with props, which has given me an even broader understanding of the process. This experience has definitely influenced the way I approach photography, and I believe it’s one of the reasons my work stands out.

I’ve been lucky enough to have my work recognized internationally, and along the way, I’ve developed a good sense of humor and a knack for connecting with people. I love making my subjects feel at ease in front of the camera, and that’s when the best moments happen. Whether it’s a high-pressure production or a laid-back shoot, I bring a creative, relaxed, and professional approach to everything I do.
